Kentucky Ag News

You shop for Kentucky Proud gifts for the holidays because you want to give special gifts made right here in Kentucky. You want to show your pride in your Kentucky home. And you like the idea of helping Kentucky family farmers and small business operators make a living.

Two recent developments have made it easier than ever to give the gift of Kentucky Proud.

In November, Kroger launched the largest single initiative in the history of the Kentucky Proud program when it announced that it would stock an additional 125 Kentucky Proud items from 34 vendors in 88 of its supermarkets throughout the state. Shoppers at participating Kroger stores now can find a vast selection of Kentucky Proud products – mixes, sauces, seasonings, soaps, jams, jellies, coffee, tea, and many others. One of those products is Kentucky Proud Popcorn, a 100 percent Kentucky product using popcorn grown by western Kentucky farm families.

Along with Kroger, hundreds of other stores big and small stock Kentucky Proud products, and many producers sell directly to their customers. The new Kentucky Proud website that the Kentucky Department of Agriculture launched in November will help you find what you’re looking for.

The website is located at the same address,, but it carries many new informative and user-friendly features. The state-of-the-art search engine enables users to search by type of business, product category, and county. From the website, users can download the Kentucky Proud locater app for their smartphones, find a farmers’ market, search recipes that use Kentucky Proud products, locate a family-friendly Kentucky farm destination, and learn about Kentucky Proud programs such as Appalachia Proud and Homegrown By Heroes. You can browse the Kentucky Proud feeds on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news and information about Kentucky’s official farm marketing program.

Buying Kentucky Proud is a great way to show your friends and loved ones how you feel about them. Kentucky Proud gifts can be especially meaningful to people in other states who have a connection to Kentucky.  Please join me by shopping in local stores and buying local Kentucky Proud products this holiday season and all year long.
