Kentucky Proud pumpkins... Nothing else is close.
Kentucky Proud pumpkins are available from mid-August through November. Selecting Kentucky Proud pumpkins. Pumpkins should be heavy for their size with a hard, tough rind free of blemishes or soft spots. They should also be brightly colored. Keeping Kentucky Proud pumpkins fresh. Lightly scrub the rind of a pumpkin with a vegetable brush, and store the pumpkin in a cool, dry place. A tasty nutritious snack...Kentucky Proud pumpkin seeds! Extract the center of the pumpkin and separate the seeds from the pulp. Thoroughly wash the seeds in warm water and spread out on a cookie sheet. Sprinkle salt and place in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes. Check every five minutes and sprinkle a little more salt. Seeds will be done when you taste test them and the centers are dry.
