Kentucky Governor’s Office for Local Development Recreation Trails Program
Overview:
The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is a federal-aid assistance program to help the states develop and maintain trails for both motorized and non-motorized recreational trail use. The program provides for all kinds of recreational trail uses such as walking/jogging, hiking, bicycling and/or mountain biking, in-line skating, equestrian uses, off-road motorcycling, all terrain vehicle riding, four-wheel driving, or using other off-road motorized vehicles. Each state develops its own procedures to solicit and select projects for funding in response to recreational trail needs within the state.
