Welcome to the Division of Agritourism

Kentucky Heritage Council

Overview:

The Heritage Council administers two main grant programs designed to identify, protect, and enhance Kentucky's historic and cultural resources.  Federal Survey and Planning grants are intended to identify historic resources, evaluate their significance, and plan for their future maintenance.  The other main grant program, known as State Preservation Grants, provides funding and technical support for the restoration/rehabilitation, stabilization, and protection of historic properties.  Each year, the Heritage Council distributes these state and federal funds based upon the applicable criteria.

Eligible Applicants:

Project selection for both programs is based on national preservation objectives, historic and architectural significance, geographic distribution, community support, availability of local match, and the demonstrated ability of the applicant to complete the project within the time frame allotted.

Deadline:

Federal grant funds are awarded in January of the project year.  State funds are distributed in July of the project year.
