Mildred V. Horn Foundations
Overview:
The Mildred V Horn Foundation ("Horn Foundation") mission is focused in the following three areas: (1) public charities that support historic home restoration (circa 1760-1860) that are open to the public and are located in Kentucky and its contiguous states; (2) education (primarily schools including elementary, middle and high school and colleges located in Oldham County, Kentucky and the surrounding area), and (3) homeless shelters located in Oldham County, Kentucky and the surrounding areas.
Eligible Applicants:
Organizations must meet the following criteria to be eligible for support:
- Have a 501(c)(3) and 509 tax exempt certificate verifying qualification as a public charity.
- Be located in Kentucky, or in the case of historic homes, located in its contiguous states.
Deadline:
Grant requests are accepted throughout the calendar year, although funds available for grant making may be depleted before year-end. Generally, grants are awarded for the current year and requests for multi-year funding are not considered.
Funding Available:
Grants normally range between $1,000 and $10,000 per grant. Grants for amounts exceeding $10,000 are awarded less frequently and typically require a greater level of commitment i.e. a written grant contract detailing required reports, records, timelines, etc.
