|
Kentucky Kate is a life-size, fiberglass, milkable cow that is available for educational and promotional events.
Kate is owned by the Kentucky Milk Producers Association (KMPA) which is a non-profit group consisting mainly of dairy producers. The cow was funded by contributions from the Dairy Products Association of Kentucky (DPAK), Kentucky Dairy Boosters, ADA/SUDIA, Kentucky Farm Bureau, and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. She made her debut in the Spring of 2002.
Kate is set up on a wheeled base and travels in her own customized cattle trailer. She has traveled all over Kentucky from Murray and Benton in Western Kentucky to Ashland and Paintsville in Eastern Kentucky . She has participated in school agriculture days, county fairs, parades, June Dairy Days, and regional festivals. She has become a regular attraction at the Kentucky State Fair and at the North American International Livestock Exposition.
She can be utilized for a nominal fee to the KMPA for educational and promotional events. “Got milk?” stickers and coloring sheets are provided at no charge when she makes an appearance. A teacher's packet has been compiled and is available to assist educators in teaching about the dairy industry.
