8. The use of dyes or other coloring agents to camouflage the natural coloring of an animal is prohibited. Use of false tail heads or switches will be prohibited.

10. Rules and regulations of district show committees must conform to the General Rules. Individual district committees can, and may, have more restrictive regulations. Exhibitors should contact their 4-H agent, vo-ag instructor or the Division of Show and Fair Promotion for any additional information prior to arrival at the show.

11a. 4-H: All purebred animals must be registered by June 1 of the current year in the full name of the 4-H member exhibiting them. Adult-club members, partnerships, or farm-name-only registrations are not acceptable. A partnership of two or more youths under 19 years of age is permitted. Any violation of the rules shall be reported to a representative of Show and Fair Promotion who, in turn, shall inform the appropriate youth agency. Said violation of the rules may, at the discretion of the youth agency, result in a suspension from showing.

13. All times and dates were correct at time of printing. They are subject to change or rescheduling due to weather.

14.  Due to limited stalling space, exhibitors are requested to conserve space.  Exhibitors may be required to move animals, tack or blocking chutes to accomodate others.  Local committees may refuse reserve stalling requests.

3. Classes will be offered for registered and commercial heifers and for registered bred-and-owned bulls. Commercial heifers must be permanently identified with verification of ownership and birth date of the animal confirmed by the 4-H agent or vo-ag instructor on the appropriate form. Registration papers from a recognized breed association are required to show in breed classes. Registered animals must be permanently identified per breed association requirements.

4. Ownership of animals by the exhibitor is required. Market animals shall be owned and under continual care of the exhibitor by March 31. Heifers shall be owned prior to the show. All heifers owned in partnership must conform to exhibitor's organization requirements.

5. If there is a question concerning ownership of an animal, official registration papers are the preferred documents of record. In the event they are not available, a copy of the animal's registration, along with an application for transfer, a bill of sale, or other appropriate documents may be accepted.

6. Market animals will be broken in to divisions (lightweight, mediumweight, heavyweight and market heifers) if more than 15 head are present.  Individual class breaks for market animals will be made by the local rules committee. Weights will be used to break classes. No bulls or bullocks will be eligible for market animal classes.

7. No re-weigh will be permitted. We encourage 4-H and FFA members to have their vo-ag teachers or 4-H agents present when the steer is being weighed. An exhibitor shall have the right to challenge the weight of the steer, remove the steer from the scales, have the weighman balance the scales, then reweigh his/her steer before another steer is weighed. The steer cannot leave the immediate area of the scales before being re-weighed.

8. Cow/Calf Classes are now eligible at Preview Shows.  See section below in District Show Rules.

* Preview shows will not qualify market steers for the Kentucky State Fair.
