Livestock care, equine health boards formed

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Aug. 19, 2010) – Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Equine Health & Welfare Council:

Alex Barnett, of Cynthiana, is a self-employed farmer. He represents the Kentucky Farm Bureau. Barnett shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2014.

Dwayne Marcum, of Versailles, is a self-employed veterinarian. He represents the Kentucky Equine Health and Welfare Alliance Inc. Marcum shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2014.

Jeremy Whitman, of Georgetown, is a veterinarian with Equine Medical Associates PSC. He represents the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association. Whitman shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2011.

Esther “Essie” Rogers, of Harrodsburg, is director of education and welfare at the Kentucky Horse Council Inc. She represents the Kentucky Horse Council. Rogers shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2013.

Michael Blowen, of Georgetown, is president and founder of Old Friends Inc. He represents organized horse rescue entities. Blowen shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2012.

Mary Ann Ellison, of Mayfield, is co-owner of Smith’s Supermarket Inc. She represents members at large. Ellison shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2012.

Robert L. Coleman, of Olive Hill, is a self-employed private investor. He represents members at large. Coleman shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2013.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Livestock Care Standards Commission:

Danny Wilkinson, of Columbia, is a self-employed farmer. He represents the Kentucky Farm Bureau. Wilkinson shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2012.

Darrell L. Link, of Williamstown, is the Grant County Judge/Executive. He represents the Kentucky County Judge/Executive Association. Link shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2014.

Charles Townsend, of Russellville, is a self-employed veterinarian. He represents the Kentucky Veterinarian Medical Association. Townsend shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2012.

Warren G. Anderson, of Hustonville, works for the Danville Advocate-Messenger. He represents citizens at large. Anderson shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2014.

Brenda F. Paul, of Paris, is self-employed farmer and beef producer. She represents bovine producers. Paul shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2013.

Robert A. Leer, of Paris, is an autoworker at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Co. He represents sheep and wool producers. Leer shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2011.

John S. Medley Jr., of Springfield, is a self-employed farmer. He represents pork producers. Medley shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2013.

Joe Ramsey, of Lexington, is the horse farm manager for Hill “n” Dale farms. He represents equine producers. Ramsey shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2011.

Bill G. Sammons, of Guthrie, is the farm manager with Cal-Maine Foods. He represents poultry producers. Sammons shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 19, 2012.
