Seats still available for 'Meat' Your Neighbor tour

The Kentucky Beef Council will give a "Meat" Your Neighbor Educational Tour of Kentucky farms April 14 in the Bourbon County area.

Participants will tour four farms to see production and environmental practices firsthand. Participants will also learn how beef producers are meeting consumer needs for healthy beef choices while remaining committed to the environment. 

Kentucky is the largest cattle-producing state east of the Mississippi River with more than 1.2 million beef cows (2009) and a total cattle inventory of some 2.3 million head (2008). Cattle producers generated more than $605 million in farm cash receipts in 2007.
