FRANKFORT,
Ky. — Thirty-two students at Kentucky universities were
honored at the Agribusiness/Governor's Scholars Program
awards luncheon June 17 in Frankfort.
Rodger
Bingham, deputy director of the Kentucky Department
of Agriculture's Office of Agriculture Marketing and
Product Promotion, applauded the scholarship recipients
for their efforts.
“Agriculture
has made this country what it is today,” said Bingham,
a Grant County farmer and star of the “Survivor” television
series. “I congratulate each of you on this achievement
and on your dedication to agriculture.”
Andrea
Basham, a scholarship recipient who will be a student
at the University of Kentucky this fall, urged her fellow
honorees to keep up the good work and challenged the
business community to be ready for the elite students
to enter the workforce.
“A
word to businesses: We're here. Put us to work,” Basham
said.
