FRANKFORT, Ky. — Louisville will host more than 20,000 of the best livestock in the world as well as 200,000 visitors at the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) Nov. 4-17 at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
The expo is the world's largest all-breed, purebred livestock competition, featuring nine different species. It’s the site of the largest purebred beef and sheep events in the world. The NAILE offers seven other major livestock shows: dairy cattle, dairy goats, llamas and alpacas, quarter horses, draft horses, market swine and boer goats. Seven major youth judging contests also are scheduled.
The North American Championship Rodeo, North American Quarter Horse Show and the U.S. Disc Dog National and International Finals will run during the NAILE.
The North American Championship Rodeo on Nov. 9-11 features the invitational finals for the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association. The Great Lakes Circuit Rodeo Finals brings top cowboys and cowgirls together to compete for more than $80,000 in prizes and the regional championship. The total purse is the second-largest for a circuit final.
The North American Quarter Horse Show is considered one of the top five shows in the nation. The U.S. Disc Dog National Finals on Nov. 11 and the U.S. Disc Dog International Finals on Nov. 12 feature high-flying dogs of all shapes and sizes.
Throughout the shows, visitors can enjoy the Giant Country Store with its nearly 150 commercial vendors selling everything from fine jewelry and food to western clothing and farm supplies.
Tickets to the North American are $5 for adults and $2 for children ages 12 and under. Parking is $5. A pass for all 14 days of the NAILE is $20, and a parking pass for the entire event is $25.
The North American International Livestock Exposition is produced by the Commonwealth of Kentucky under the direction of the Kentucky State Fair Board and in cooperation with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA).
KDA employees help run the shows and staff the International Room, a hospitality room offering food and refreshments to participants. The KDA’s milkable fiberglass cow, “Kentucky Kate,” is part of an interactive display in the South Wing Lobby as part of the Farmer For A Day program for school children who come to the show on field trips.
The NAILE brings an estimated economic impact of $11.6 million to Louisville each year.
