LOUISVILLE, KY-- Another year, another record. The grand champion country ham earned a record high bid of $500,000 at the Kentucky Farm Bureau Country Ham Breakfast Thursday at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
First Southern National Bank of Stanford made the winning bid. Proceeds from the auction will go to Crown Financial Ministries.
“I asked the bidders to top last year, and boy, did they ever!” Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer said. “The bidders’ enthusiasm is a tribute to their generosity and to the quality of Kentucky country ham. I congratulate all the bidders for their participation.”
The Kentucky State Fair champion country ham was cured by Broadbent B&B Foods of Cadiz. Broadbent produced the winning ham for the third year in a row.
The winning bid broke the record of $340,000 set last year by Republic Bank and Trust.
