FRANKFORT,
Ky. — Rodger Bingham, Kentucky's favorite “Survivor,”
will promote farm safety at the National Farm Machinery
Show this week at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center.
Bingham
will be at the Kentucky Department of Agriculture's
Farm and Home Safety booth in the South Wing Thursday
through Saturday from 1-4 p.m. EST. The Grant County
farmer was hired in January as deputy director of the
Department's Office of Agriculture Marketing and Product
Promotion.
“Rodger
Bingham represented Kentucky with dignity and grace
during the ‘Survivor' TV show,” Agriculture Commissioner
Richie Farmer said. “He earned the respect of millions
of people from all over the country. I can think
of nothing better for him to use his notoriety to promote
than safety for our farm families.”
“I'm
pleased to be able to help promote the cause of safety,”
Bingham said. “I'm a farmer myself, so I know how one
little mistake can create a dangerous situation. I'm
looking forward to meeting a lot of people and telling
them how important it is to be careful on the farm and
in the home.”
A
former industrial arts teacher at Grant County High
School, Bingham became famous as “Kentucky Joe” during
the second season of the hit CBS TV show and remains
one of the all-time favorite Survivors.
The
National Farm Machinery Show, America's largest indoor
farm show, will run Thursday through Sunday. Nearly
800 vendors will exhibit brand-name products and agriculture
services. Exhibit hours will be 9 a.m.-6 p.m. daily.
Admission is free and parking is $5.
