FRANKFORT,
Ky. — Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer
has appointed a Lexington broadcasting veteran to serve
as director of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture's
Division of Public Relations.
Bill
Clary started in his new position on Monday. The Division
of Public Relations is responsible for the Department's
communications and printing.
“We
are very fortunate to get someone with Bill Clary's
talent and experience to fill this key role,” Commissioner
Farmer said. “I want to see the Division expand on its
efforts to promote Kentucky agricultural products and
inform Kentuckians about all the things the Department
does for them every day. Bill Clary is the right person
for the job.”
Clary
was program manager for LM Communications in Lexington
before accepting his new position. Before that, he was
operations manager for Cumulus Broadcasting. He came
to Lexington in 1991 and worked at WVLK for eight years,
the last three as operations manager.
A
native of Salisbury, Md., Clary started out as a disc
jockey as a teen-ager. He attended the University of
Tennessee and worked as a reporter after college. He
entered broadcast management in Beaufort, S.C., in the
early 1980s.
Clary,
46, is married to Heather Clary, communications manager
for the Better Business Bureau in Lexington.
