FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky agricultural exporters will have an opportunity to meet with buyers from Colombia who will be in the state for a reverse trade mission Aug. 28-29 in Frankfort.
The Colombia representatives are pre-qualified buyers and importers/distributors. Participating Kentucky companies can showcase their products and meet one-on-one with the Colombia buyers to discuss export opportunities.
Colombia, with a population of 40 million, is one of the largest importers of U.S. food and agriculture products in Latin America after Mexico, with total imports of $542.2 million in 2004. The country has one of the most modern and dynamic supermarket sectors in South America and a diverse and thriving food service sector, making Colombia a major importer of a wide range of processed food products and beverages.
The reverse trade mission will continue in Oklahoma City on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
