FRANKFORT,
Ky. — Fifteen Kentucky food companies will put their
best Kentucky Proud products forward to raise money
for hungry Kentuckians on Sept. 30 in Louisville.
“Lifting
Spirits with Compassion” is the theme of a benefit dinner
to raise funds for the Dare to Care Food Bank. The event
will take place in the Brown & Williamson Club at
Papa John's Cardinal Stadium and is sponsored by Brown-Forman.
Chef Paul Brown will prepare the meal with Kentucky
Proud foods. Vendors will exhibit and sell their food
products during the cocktail hour.
Companies
providing products for sale at the dinner include Aunt
Nettie's, Buffalo Crossing LLC, Kentucky Kandy Kitchen,
J&J Pretzel Co. LLC, Kenny's Country Cheese, Kenny's
Gourmet Popcorn, Kentucky Bison Co., Kentucky Silk Pie,
Kentucky's Smokin' Grill Inc., KiKi's Kitchen, Land
O' Goshen Inc., Lil' Loafers, McDowell Farms Salsa,
Southern Delight Gourmet Foods LLC, T&A Sauces,
Valentine's Gourmet Ice Cream and Weikel Industries
Inc.
Founded
in 1971, Dare to Care is an interfaith, nonprofit organization
dedicated to relieving hunger in the Louisville and
southern Indiana metropolitan area. It is funded by
donations and grants. It distributed more than 7 million
pounds of food last year through 29 neighborhood distribution
centers in the metro Louisville area. Dare to Care also
partners with local community agencies to administer
the Kids Cafe program to provide hot, nutritious evening
meals to children in high poverty areas.
The
program starts with cocktails at 6 p.m. EDT. Dinner
will be served at 7:30. Tax deductible dinner tickets
are $100 each.
