FRANKFORT--In response to numerous news media inquiries, Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer released the following statement today:
"I have not spoken to Gov. Fletcher since Lt. Gov. Pence announced he would not run for re-election. The governor has not asked me to serve as his running mate. I am focused on doing the best job I can do as Commissioner of Agriculture, addressing the serious issues facing Kentucky's farmers and consumers."
Commissioner Farmer is in Birmingham, AL attending the annual meeting of the Southern Association of State Departments of Agriculture.
