FRANKFORT, Ky. — Chef Ouita Michel of Holly Hill Inn in Midway will bring the exotic taste of the French Riviera to Frankfort on Saturday evening.

Michel will cook a Provençal dinner at Happy Jack Pumpkin and Produce Farm. The public is invited to watch Michel at work, then dine under the stars, weather permitting, with summertime French wine served. The buffet dinner is inspired and named after the Provence region of southeastern France.

Michel will grill locally-raised, free-range organic chicken seasoned with lemon and basil. Complementing the meat will be freshly-picked Kentucky Proud vegetables grown in the nearby fields of Happy Jack owners Richard and Lee Ann Jones. Side dishes will include eggplant gratin, French-style tomato pie, ragout of beans and sweet corn, grilled lavender-scented baby squash and crispy-fried squash blossoms.

“We'd like to sell out the event,” said Genie Graf of Holly Hill Inn, who called the dinner “a wonderful and, we believe, first-of-its-kind event in our area, if not the state.”

The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Cost is $30 a person, not including tax and gratuity. For reservations, call Holly Hill Inn at (859) 846-4732.
