FRANKFORT, Ky. — Rodger Bingham, Kentucky's favorite Survivor, will be one of the guest speakers at the 11th Annual Farm Safety Symposium March 5 at the Pritchard Community Center in Elizabethtown.

Bingham is Deputy Director of Marketing for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. He competed on the CBS-TV series “Survivor,” where he became known as “Kentucky Joe.” He and Keith Rogers, Executive Director of the Governor's Office of Agricultural Policy, will speak on tractor rollover protection during the evening program at 7 p.m. EST.

“We are pleased that Mr. Bingham's popularity can be put to good use for the cause of promoting farm and home safety,” Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer said. “Mr. Bingham has earned the esteem of fans throughout Kentucky and all over America with his reputation for honesty and generosity and his positive attitude. He will inspire people to take that extra step that could prevent serious injury or save a life on the farm and in the home.”

The farm safety symposium will begin at 5 p.m. with the Fire Fighter Olympics. The Department's Farm and Home Safety Program will bring its tractor rollover simulator and grain safety trailer to the event, and the KDA's Mobile Science Activity Center will be on display. Other exhibits will highlight the Rinse and Return recycling program, the Division of Environmental Services and the Governor's Office of Agricultural Policy.

Refreshments will be served. For more information on the symposium, contact Dale Dobson at (502) 564-4696.
