FRANKFORT,
Ky. — Rodger Bingham, Kentucky's favorite Survivor,
will be one of the guest speakers at the 11th Annual
Farm Safety Symposium March 5 at the Pritchard Community
Center in Elizabethtown.
Bingham
is Deputy Director of Marketing for the Kentucky Department
of Agriculture. He competed on the CBS-TV series “Survivor,”
where he became known as “Kentucky Joe.” He and Keith
Rogers, Executive Director of the Governor's Office
of Agricultural Policy, will speak on tractor rollover
protection during the evening program at 7 p.m. EST.
“We
are pleased that Mr. Bingham's popularity can be put
to good use for the cause of promoting farm and home
safety,” Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer said.
“Mr. Bingham has earned the esteem of fans throughout
Kentucky and all over America with his reputation for
honesty and generosity and his positive attitude. He
will inspire people to take that extra step that could
prevent serious injury or save a life on the farm and
in the home.”
The
farm safety symposium will begin at 5 p.m. with the
Fire Fighter Olympics. The Department's Farm and Home
Safety Program will bring its tractor rollover simulator
and grain safety trailer to the event, and the KDA's
Mobile Science Activity Center will be on display. Other
exhibits will highlight the Rinse and Return recycling
program, the Division of Environmental Services and
the Governor's Office of Agricultural Policy.
