FRANKFORT, Ky. — Anyone who is considering opening a bed and breakfast or a Kentucky Farm Stay is invited to a series of three workshops in western Kentucky in September hosted by the Bed and Breakfast Association of Kentucky.
The Aspiring Innkeepers’ Workshops are set for Sept. 11 at Serenity Hill B&B in Brownsville; Sept. 18 at Federal Grove B&B in Auburn, and Sept. 25 at the Victorian House B&B in Smiths Grove. The workshops will take place from 6-8 p.m. CDT each evening.
The workshops will offer information on business planning, insurance, marketing, financial issues and historic building incentives. The new Kentucky Farm Stays program also will be discussed. Experienced innkeepers and other guest speakers will make presentations at the workshops. Each attendee will receive a start-up guide, valued at $125, to use as a reference for opening a B&B or Kentucky Farm Stay.
The cost for all three sessions is $275 per person, $350 per couple or $125 for BBAK members.
The BBAK includes the 16 Kentucky Farm Stays, which are bed and breakfast destinations on Kentucky farms. The Farm Stays offer visitors a taste of the agricultural lifestyle while providing innkeepers another way to make money on the farm. A list of Kentucky Farm Stays is on the BBAK Web site, www.kentuckybb.com.
For more information on the Aspiring Innkeepers’ Workshops, or to register, contact Sharon Dahle, owner/innkeeper of the Victorian House B&B, at (270) 563-9403 or go to the BBAK Web site, www.kentuckybb.com.
