"I appreciate the efforts the Kentucky Parks Department has made ..."

Commissioner Richie Farmer

FRANKFORT – Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer applauded the announcement that john conti Coffee Co. will supply a new blend of upscale gourmet coffee to be sold in Kentucky’s state park facilities.

“I appreciate the efforts the Kentucky Parks Department has made to add Kentucky Proud products to its parks and the cafes it operates,” Commissioner Farmer said. “Bob Perry and the rest of the Parks Department staff are to be commended for going all-out to work with Kentucky companies and Kentucky producers.”

The coffee is a 100 percent Arabican coffee called Bluegrass Blend. It will be packaged specially for the Parks Department with the “Kentucky Proud” and “Unbridled Spirit” logos on the package.

The deal with john conti follows the September announcement that the state changed its regulations so that the Parks Department can buy Kentucky meat and dairy products. In 2004, the state set up a program for Kentucky fruit and vegetable growers to sell their products at the state parks and state-run cafes.

Louisville-based john conti Coffee Co. serves more than 5,000 office, restaurant and institutional customers throughout Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and West Virginia.
