FRANKFORT, Ky. — The new Kentucky Dairy Development Council (KDDC) is now accepting applications for executive director.
“The council is the first organization to represent all aspects of Kentucky’s dairy industry,” Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer said. “The hiring of an executive director is a big step toward becoming an effective organization that can help the entire dairy industry grow and prosper.”
The executive director would have the primary role of promoting, representing, and further enhancing the Kentucky dairy industry for the profitability of the dairy producer. This includes dealing with legislative issues, producer issues, promotion and education, and other responsibilities as needed.
The KDDC was formed early this year with the efforts of a core group of dairy producers and industry leaders. Funding from the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board is helping to get the organization off the ground and will also establish the executive director’s position.
The KDDC currently includes Kentucky dairy producers as well as allied industry individuals and groups in areas such as genetics, nutrition, animal health, and others. The group also consists of advisory members from universities and other public agencies. The KDDC will be based in the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association office in Lexington.
Jim Sidebottom of Green County heads the KDDC’s interim board. Bob Klingenfus of Crestwood is vice president, and Gary Lane of Danville is secretary-treasurer.
The deadline for sending in resumes for the executive director position is June 15.
