Import from a Foreign Country

For the purpose of the C.E.M. regulations, equine animals over 731 days of age at the time of importation coming from any country outside the continental United States, it's territories and possessions, with the sole exception being Canada, must meet some standard of C.E.M. testing and treatment.

Animals imported from countries which are believed to be affected with C.E.M. are placed under an order of quarantine until all testing and treatment requirements are completed and reported as negative.

These countries are considered by the United States Department of Agriculture as being affected with C.E.M. on January 1, 2002:
