BOVINE: BREEDER/SALE
Import requirements
ALL:- USDA Official ID required (i.e. 840 series electronic tag, registration tattoo with papers, NUES tag are accepted if applied prior to November 5, 2024)
- Lactating Dairy Cattle must have a negative HPAI test from an accredited NAHLN lab performed by an accredited veterinarian within 7 days of arrival
- Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days prior to entry with Official IDs listed on the CVI or an attached list
- Unless moving directly to a state-federal approved stockyards - CVI/Import Permit not required
- Unless moving to a Kentucky premises from an out-of-state livestock market, accompanied by a bill of sale or way bill - CVI/Import Permit not required
- Import Permit shall be obtained and recorded on CVI by issuing veterinarian at 502-573-0282 OR online HERE
- Additional import requirements for MICHIGAN (see below)
MICHIGAN:
- ALCONA/ALPENA/MONTMORENCY/OSCODA COUNTIES: Whole herd Tuberculosis (TB) test on all animals twelve (12) months of age and older within one (1) year of movement & incoming animal(s) two (2) months of age and older tested within sixty (60) days of entry, unless originating from an TB Accredited Herd.
NOTICE: The North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) has changed their show entry requirements. Some of these changes include the requirement for Official Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) devices and negative PI-BVD tests for cattle. Lactating Dairy Cattle will require a negative HPAI test within 7 days of arrival into KY. These negative test results must be written on the CVI. These changes are for show entry only and do not reflect a change in the Kentucky State Veterinarian's state entry requirements.
