What is Raising Hope?
Raising Hope is a program that focuses on farm safety, farmer's health, and farm rescue. The program seeks to raise awareness including dangers of routine activities on the farm, the health risks on the farm, and the needed training for farm specific rescues. The goal is to encourage farmers to take extra steps to keep themselves, their workers, and their families safe.
Farm Safety
Farming is one of the most hazardous occupations in the United States. A single misjudgment or a fleeting lapse in focus can have life-altering consequences. To enhance safety measures for farmers, their families, and workers, the Raising Hope team actively engages with schools, civic clubs, and major events like the National Farm Machinery Show. Through these outreach efforts, they aim to raise awareness and offer valuable educational resources.
FARMER OF THE YEAR AWARD
The Raising Hope Farmer of the Year Award recognizes a farmer or farm family who has dedicated decades to advancing agriculture and promoting the safety and health of the community. For more details click here...
Farmer’s Health
Raising Hope places a strong emphasis on the welfare of farmers through the provision of health screenings during public events. This initiative aims to tackle health issues and encourage discussions surrounding wellness. The organization extends support by offering valuable resources such as specialized training, including QPR training, access to the 988 crisis hotline, fundamental first-aid and CPR training, and tailored assistance from experts well-versed in agricultural practices. Moreover, to express appreciation and solidarity, the organization distributes challenge coins, symbolizing their dedication to offering unwavering support within the rural community. Farm Rescue
Being adequately prepared for worst-case scenarios on the farm is a fundamental aspect of ensuring survival in the event of an accident. At Raising Hope, we prioritize rescue operations with utmost seriousness. Our team collaborates with FFA chapters, local state responders, medical flight services, and other entities to conduct simulated accidents. Through these drills, emergency personnel not only showcase rescue procedures but also acquire essential skills for effectively managing various emergencies, including incidents involving tractor overturns, lawn mower mishaps, ATV accidents, grain bin incidents, and other potential farm-related accidents.
