Burley co-op elects board of directors

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Burley Co-op completed its annual director election and directors were sworn into service at the organizational board meeting on Oct. 8 for a three-year term. Donald T. Mitchell of Woodford County and incumbent Robert Reed Bush Sr. of Henry County were elected by the tobacco farmers of each district. The incumbent directors in Districts 12, 14, 15, and 16 were elected by acclamation.
Mitchell will represent District 11, which is comprised of Boyle, Jessamine, Mercer and Woodford Counties. Mitchell is new to the Board of Directors replacing Tom Greathouse, who did not run for re-election. Donald is from Midway and raises burley tobacco, stocker cattle and hay.
David Chappell will represent District 12, which is comprised of Carroll, Gallatin and Owen Counties. Chappell was elected to the Board in October 2002. This will be his fifth term.
Robert Reed Bush Sr. will represent District 13, which is comprised of Henry, Jefferson, Oldham, and Trimble Counties. Bush was elected to the Board in October 2000. This will be his sixth term.
Billy Courts will represent District 14, which is comprised of Boone, Campbell, Grant, and Kenton Counties. Courts was elected to the Board in November 1991. This will be his eighth term.
Paul Tucker will represent District 15, which is comprised of Bourbon, Harrison, and Pendleton Counties. Tucker was first elected to the Board in October 1987. This will be his eight term.
Troy Dee Martin will represent District 16, which is comprised of Bracken, Fleming, Nicholas, and Robertson Counties. Martin was elected to the Board in October 2008. This will be his third term.
Kevin Rawlings will represent the State of Missouri in the Director at Large position. Rawlings was elected to the Board in October 2009. This will be his fifth term.
Patrick E. Raines will represent District 6, State of Ohio. A special election was held in this district for a one-year term. Raines was first elected to the Board in October 1995, serving as Director at Large for the State of Ohio.
In addition, officer’s elections were held with all officers returning to their positions.
