Next Hunger Task Force meetings set for Mayfield, Owensboro

FRANKFORT, Ky. - The Kentucky Hunger Task Force will convene two regional meetings in western Kentucky before breaking for the Kentucky State Fair.
Regional meetings are scheduled for:
- Mayfield, Aug. 4, 2:30 p.m. CDT, Purchase Area Development District, 1002 Medical Center Circle
- Owensboro, Aug. 9, 4 p.m. CDT, site to be announced
The slate of regional meetings will conclude in September with meetings in Louisville, Pikeville, and Elizabethtown. Previous meetings took place in Highland Heights, London, Lexington, Bowling Green, and Morehead.
The Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s Hunger Initiative is a first-of-its-kind effort to alleviate food insecurity in Kentucky. The objectives of the Hunger Initiative will be to study the sources of hunger, identify the unique issues that affect different regions of the Commonwealth, and take an inventory of resources that can be brought to bear against the hunger problem in Kentucky.
