Founded in 1919 by two young ladies Rebecca Gooch and Ruth Booe. Ruth is known as the originator of Bourbon Chocolates. Ruth & Rebecca began thier candy business at a time when few women ventured into business. In fact, as women, they did not have the right to vote in public elections at the time they first went into business. These two ladies were creative and had great determination. Rebecca got married and sold her share of the business to Ruth in 1929. Ruth carried on making her now famous chocolates (which did not yet contain Bourbon or any liquor in the earliest years).
