The idea for Harvest Bounty Family Farms was developed around the kitchen table of Jim and Sherry Fields one evening during a family dinner. Jim, Sherry, and daughter Molly, along with daughter Ella and son-in-law Lance, and cousin Anna and her husband Phillip discussed the possibility of selling produce directly off the farm to consumers. For several years Jim and Sherry along with daughters Molly and Ella had been growing and marketing hardy field mums. Anna and Phillip along with Jim and Sherry were also growing two 'test' plots of blackberries for the University of Kentucky. We thought that pumpkins would be a great addition to seasonal produce production.
After much discussion, it was decided to go head long into this venture! From this family dinner, Harvest Bounty Family Farms was created. We decided to not only offer mums and pumpkins in the fall, but also add cushaws, indian corn, indian popcorn, broom corn, and gourds.
