Kentuckian to speak at national conference
Kentucky Farm Bureau
Farm women from throughout Kentucky are invited to listen to inspiring speakers and participate in educational workshops at the 2008 Kentucky Farm Bureau State Women's Leadership Conference April 25 at the Galt House Hotel and Suites in Louisville. The Kentucky event will be held in conjunction with the American Farm Bureau National Women’s Conference April 25-28. The AFB conference is expected to draw more than 700 women from throughout the United States.

Clebe McClary of South Carolina will give the keynote address during Kentucky Farm Bureau’s opening general session. While serving with the U.S. Marine Corps behind enemy lines in Vietnam, Lt. McClary lost an eye, an arm and much of the use of his remaining hand in an explosion that nearly took his life. His recovery and his resolve make him a true American hero — and a role model of perseverance. Deanna McClary, Clebe’s wife, will also have an opportunity to share.
The American Farm Bureau National activities will include presentations from Jon Carloftis and Jolene Brown. A native of Livingston in RockcastleCounty, Carloftis is a nationally known author and garden designer. Of his calling, he says, "I work in garden design because it is my passion, trying to make the world a little greener, a little more beautiful." Jolene Brown is a farmer from West Branch, Iowa, who will deliver a message of humor, hope and helpful ideas for everyday living.
The American Farm Bureau National Women’s Conference will also include a variety of workshops related to leadership development and an assortment of tours. For more information, visit www.kyfb.com and www.fb.org.
