Kentucky's Response to Vesicular Stomatitis (VS) - New Mexico

With notification received late yesterday evening of two horses residing on a premises in Otero County, New Mexico having been diagnosed with Vesicular Stomatitis (VS); Kentucky State Veterinarian Robert Stout - through our Administrative Regulation 302 KAR 20:115 - now prohibits entry of all livestock, wild and exotic animals into Kentucky originating from New Mexico premises currently under quarantine because of confirmed cases of vesicular stomatitis or any such animal that has been on a premises during the 30 days preceding the entry into Kentucky.

In addition to prohibiting these animals from entering Kentucky, all other livestock, wild or exotic animals entering Kentucky from New Mexico must have a statement included on the Official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (OCVI) stating:

Animals represented on this OCVI have not originated from a premise or area under quarantine or on which vesicular stomatitis has been diagnosed in the past thirty (30) days or from an embargoed area restricted from entry into Kentucky.
