Businesses can now showcase their connection to the Commonwealth

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 7, 2026) –  Kentucky Proud® is expanding the ways Kentucky businesses can showcase their connection to the Commonwealth with the launch of a new merchandise licensing program through the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.

As the official agricultural marketing brand for the state, Kentucky Proud represents Kentucky-grown, raised, and produced products while helping Kentucky businesses develop sustainable markets for their products. The brand has built statewide consumer recognition of more than 87 percent since its creation in 2002.

The new co-licensing program gives eligible businesses an opportunity to apply for a license to use the Kentucky Proud® brand on approved merchandise, creating new ways for consumers to wear, use, and show their Kentucky pride.

Merchandise eligible for consideration may include apparel, drinkware, home goods, accessories, décor, promotional items, and other products that align with the Kentucky Proud® brand and its mission.

“For more than two decades, Kentucky Proud has been the standard for the best products our Commonwealth has to offer,” Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell said. “This new program builds on that legacy by giving businesses another tool to tell the story of Kentucky ag and the people who make it successful.”

Unlike an open-use logo program, Kentucky Proud® merchandise licensing is designed to protect the integrity of the brand while creating opportunities for quality Kentucky businesses. Each proposed merchandise item is reviewed individually, and final artwork must receive written approval from Kentucky Proud® before a licensed product may be manufactured, advertised or sold using Kentucky Proud® intellectual property.
