Deadline to enter Great Kentucky Seafood Cook Off is June 1

June 1 is the deadline to enter the fifth annual Great Kentucky Seafood Cook Off on June 7 at Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville.

 

Chefs from all around Kentucky will participate, with the winner representing the state at the great American Seafood Cook Off in New Orleans in August. Chefs are required to submit two of their best recipes using Kentucky farm-raised seafood ingredients: catfish, tilapia, freshwater prawn, hybrid striped bass, largemouth bass, trout, paddlefish or paddlefish caviar.

 

Chefs will be required to prepare one dish for an independent panel of culinary judges. Registration fee is $50. For more information, contact Angela Caporelli, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s aquaculture coordinator and marketing specialist, at (502) 564-4983.

 

The event is sponsored by the Kentucky Aquaculture Association, Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Kentucky State University and Jefferson Community and Technical College.
