Kentuckians sizzle at Angus shows

Kentuckians walked off with the top prizes at the State Fair of West Virginia ROV Angus Show Aug. 9 in Lewisburg, W.Va.

Louis Waddle of Science Hill was co-owner of the grand champion bull and junior champion. Logan Boyd of Mayslick led the grand champion female and junior champion.  Anne Patton Schubert of Taylorsville showed the reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. A total of 114 entries went through the show ring.

At the Missouri State Fair Aug. 8 in Sedalia, Mo., Fox Run Farms LLC, Mexico, Mo.; Circle J Farm, Salyersville, Ky.; and Green Oaks Farm, Mize, Ky., led the reserve grand champion bull.  He earlier won reserve senior champion.

Gordon and Anne Patton Schubert of Taylorsville were named Master Breeder of the Year at the 2008 All-American Angus Breeders’ Futurity Roll of Victory Show July 27 in Louisville.

Two other Kentuckians, Thelma and Wendell Bruce of Lawrenceburg, received the Pioneer Breeder award.
