Born and raised Kentuckian, my Dad grew up on a dairy farm in south-central Kentucky. He has instilled a mindset within my conscious to support my local farmers and what they produce to feed not only the family who raises the crops, but to think of beyond the farm of the people that are nourished by the products of Kentucky farmers.
The rewarding feeling Kentucky farmers have of their produce when the locals purchase items to share with their friends and families at the family dinner tables is pride they can flourish and build upon from the sweat of their brow and ache of their back.
Whenever we take a road trip in Kentucky, we look for roadside family fresh produce and we stop to purchase fresh vegetables. He says by doing this we are buying good things for us to nourish our bodies and also helping the local Kentucky farmers support their families and economic status.

Little things such as this can make a person Kentucky proud and feel good inside about what they are eating and whom they bought it from. I have tasted hams from Campbellsville, apples from Johnson County, sorghum from Allen County, cheese from Barren County, and beef from our local cattlemen’s association.
My Dad said it is good to be diversified in what we eat and support all types of produce and products made right here in Kentucky. All of this makes me glad to say “I am Kentucky Proud!”
