RANGELAND, GRASSLAND GROUPS MEET IN LOUISVILLE

FRANKFORT, Ky. — The national rangeland and grassland organizations will get together to discuss common issues in a conference Jan. 26-31 in Louisville.

The conference will be a joint meeting of the Society for Range Management and the American Forage and Grassland Council. The meeting will bring together more than 1,500 ecologists, rangeland and pastureland scientists, public and private land managers, policymakers, students and others interested in forages, grasslands and rangelands.

The meeting will offer more than 50 symposia, technical sessions, workshops and poster sessions. Topics will include invasive weeds, wildfires, carbon sequestration, forage crops and grazing management, wildlife management, rangeland and pastureland management, and suburban pressures. Participants will have the opportunity to take field trips to learn about Kentucky’s natural resources and resource management challenges.

Kimberly Field, who administers the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s forage testing program, will attend the meeting and help with registration. Field is a member of the board of the Kentucky Forage and Grassland Council.

A trade show will feature land management technologies and products.

Deadline to pre-register at the regular rate is Dec. 28. On-site registration will be offered for higher rates. One-day-only registration is limited to two days.
