Kentucky Agricultural Finance Corp. approves more than $4 million in loans
Financing bolsters beef, forage, poultry, and grain farmers across the Commonwealth
FRANKFORT (May 8, 2026) – The Kentucky Agricultural Finance Corp. (KAFC) approved 21 agricultural loans totaling $4,077,342 for projects across the Commonwealth today at its monthly board meeting.
Agricultural Infrastructure Loan Program (AILP)
Five Agricultural Infrastructure loans totaling up to $1,039,592 were approved. Loan recipients were in Christian ($250,000), Fulton ($250,000), Harrison ($65,000), LaRue ($224,592), and Todd ($250,000) counties.
KAFC participates with lenders to provide financing to producers making capital expenditures for agricultural projects through the AILP. Eligible projects include permanent farm structures with attached equipment that improves the profitability of farming operations. Producers may be eligible for up to $250,000 not to exceed 50 percent of the project.
Agricultural Processing Loan Program (APLP)
One Agricultural Processing loan totaling $125,000 was approved for an operation in Nelson County.
APLP is designed to provide loan opportunities to companies and individuals in Kentucky interested in adding value to Kentucky-grown agricultural commodities through further processing. Agricultural processors may qualify for financing for acquisition of equipment, construction of new facilities, renovation/expansion of existing facilities and permanent working capital up to 50 percent of the project cost.
Beginning Farmer Loan Program (BFLP)
Fourteen Beginning Farmer loans totaling up to $2,662,750 were approved. Loan recipients were in Anderson ($188,000), Boyle ($165,000), Breckinridge ($50,000), Butler ($71,400 and $250,000), Christian ($250,000), Estill ($120,350), Graves ($250,000), Monroe ($250,000), Nelson ($200,000), Todd ($118,000, $250,000, and $250,000), and Webster ($250,000) counties.
The BFLP is designed to assist individuals with some farming experience who desire to develop, expand, or buy into a farming operation. Beginning farmers may qualify for financing to purchase livestock, equipment, or agriculture facilities; to secure permanent working capital; for the purchase of farm real estate; or to invest in a partnership or LLC.
Horticulture Incentives Loan Program (HILP)
One HILP loan totaling $250,000 was approved for a recipient in Calloway County.
KAFC participates with lenders to provide financing to make working capital available to horticulture producers to get crops from the field to buyers through the HILP. Producers may be eligible for up to $250,000 not to exceed 50 percent of the project.
