CSA Week celebrated through Oct. 2

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 29, 2026) – Kentucky Proud, the official agricultural marketing brand of the state, is inviting Kentuckians to bring fresh fall farm products straight from the field to their table as the state celebrates Kentucky Proud Fall Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Week, Sept. 28-Oct. 2.

“As the season changes from warm days to cool nights, so does the variety of products available from Kentucky farms. The long-standing CSA model of purchasing shares or subscriptions directly from local producers is an ideal way for consumers to directly connect to our fall locally grown farm products,” Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell said. “Kentucky farmers can meet the demands for consumers’ needs and the increased affinity for fresh farm food. This week highlights what incredible products Kentucky has to offer and the local producers who offer them.”

A CSA subscription is an easy way to connect directly with local growers, secure a regular supply of fresh seasonal ingredients, and support the regional food system. CSA Week highlights the local producers who offer shares or subscriptions for their products and offers new consumers a guiding hand to begin their CSA journey.

Fall CSA shares typically consist of a box of vegetables and other farm products such as winter squash, green onions, sweet potatoes, eggs, meats, and more. Consumers purchase a share and in return receive boxes, bags, or baskets from the farm’s harvest throughout the season. Shares vary in size, products, and length of subscription with many customizable options.

Kentucky Proud is partnering with the University of Kentucky’s Center for Crop Diversification, the Food Connection at the University of Kentucky, Kentucky Horticulture Council, and Organic Association of Kentucky, to host an online promotion to connect consumers with CSA farm opportunities.
